Port of Loviisa LTD

Port of Loviisa Ltd is co-owned by Port of Helsinki Ltd (60%) and the City of Loviisa (40%).

The port started operating as a limited company on 1 September 2014. The port remained a fully-owned subsidiary of the City of Loviisa until Port of Helsinki Ltd acquired majority ownership of 60% in the company as of the start of 2017.

As a result of the change in ownership, Loviisa received more resources for developing its operations, while the Port of Helsinki gained the opportunity to expand its operations beyond passenger and unitized cargo services. The arrangement strengthens the Port of Loviisa’s position and allows it to meet the diverse transportation needs of its customers even better than before.

Agile and competent port

The Port of Loviisa is a service centre specialising in industrial cargo, a so-called full service port, where the needs of each customer are considered individually. Our values are responsibility, cooperation and productivity and we create possibilities for adaptable, responsible and productive port operations.

We are a small port and cargo traffic hub located right next to Helsinki, only a short distance away from the area of consumption and export industry of southern Finland.

Loviisa has great road and rail connections to everywhere in Finland. We can serve customers as a distribution centre for road traffic and as a distribution hub for coastal traffic. We are located only a short fairway away from the shipping routes of the Gulf of Finland, due to which the vessels visiting our port save time and money in pilotage fees, for example.

Excellent transport connections:

  • 7 minutes from motorway E18
  • Train connection via Lahti
  • Short and deep fairway, draught 9.5 m
